Super Bowl Plans

Updated 2/4/17

In the last 100 years, Atlanta has only experienced one professional sports championship: the 1995 Braves winning the World Series. And while growing up in Cleveland I can relate to this all too well, I can also appreciate the city wide excitement building this week over the possibility of emerging as champions — especially over the Patriots (Sorry New England Fans).

This battle is more than just about football: one local gas station halted sales of Boston’s famous Sam Adams BeerAtlanta’s own Sublime Donuts and Boston’s Kane’s Donuts have a friendly wager too, and are asking Falcons Fans to leave a score prediction in the Facebook comment section for a chance to win a dozen doughnuts. Check with your local donut shop to see if you can pick up some decorated Falcon themed donuts to kick off Sunday morning.

So, if you are going out or staying in – here are a few options to consider.

No need to fight the crowd — you can reserve a seat at Roswell’s Houck’s Grille.  They’ll have a 13-foot projector screen in Mr. Bill’s Room and the game on everywhere in the restaurant. Three ways to reserve your seat: www.bit.ly/HoucksSuperbowl , call 770.993.8000 or email houcks@houcksgrille.com.

Also in Roswell, don’t miss getting Table & Main’s famous, once a year offering of their chicken wings. They are known for their fried chicken — so take that concept and multiply! Must order by Thursday, Feb 2.

Crabapple’s Alpine Bakery has a sweet offer for you, order $50 in carry out and they will give you a CAKE!
$50 = Small Cake ~ $100 = Large Cake.  This is sure to be a crowd pleaser!

Canton’s Wicked Wings will Rise Up and offer a FREE LARGE CHEESE PIZZA for every order of 50+ Wings that are placed prior to Sunday. They will have over 5000 of our delicious wings available, and are offering the preorder incentive to keep the process smooth and easy.

The Butcher and Bottle in Canton is giving away FREE Reformation beer every time the Falcons score! Half price wine for the ladies, all you can eat wings and give aways all  throughout the game.

Downtown Canton’s The Snug will have the game on their huge 104HD screen upstairs. They will have drink and food specials as well as games with cash prizes.

Woodstock’s Madlife Stage and Studios will celebrate the BIG Game in both the restaurant and music venue. Admission is free, but capacity is limited. The doors to MadLife’s venue will open at 4:30 PM. All tables are FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. No holding tables. The doors to MadLife Grill will open at 11 AM. All tables are FIRST COME FIRST SERVED. No holding tables. Their venue Features: 16’ Laser Projector, 40,000 Watt Sound System and game day menu features.

Join Gameday Fresh Grill in Towne Lake to watch the big game! Be sure to get there early to grab a seat. Don’t forget to call any time this week as well to order any smoked wings you may need for your party!

Kennesaw’s The Nest has a take home option too: smoked wings and Vic’s ribs are the way to go for any get together. They accommodate any order, small or big. Contact them at 678-903-6921.

The Strand Theater on the historic Marietta Square has announced they will be showing the game. Watch the Big Game on the Big Screen: The Strand will have three bars, three big screens (and we don’t mean to brag, but one of them is a REALLY big screen), and room for you and more than five hundred of your closest friends to raise a glass and turn out for your team! Wear your Falcons jersey for free popcorn. Catered Southern Events will have a pop-up restaurant at The Strand with Game Day chili, meatloaf sliders, mini Reubens, roasted corn dip, and more. Admission is FREE.

Marietta’s Hemingway’s Bar & Grill is hosting it’s 25th annual SUPER BOWL PARTY. Be there for good food and great service with Big screen HD TV’s and surround sound that will make you feel like you’re at the stadium. Awesome specials from kick off to final and a drawing for a chance to win 100% off you’re entire party’s check for up to four guests seated at one table. Party must be present from beginning to end and no take-outs. Reservations suggested.

All over town, you can place a to-go order of TacoMac’s famous wings for Saturday or Sunday pickup to make party prep less stressful. Wings are packaged in a foil pan and come with instructions for convenient reheating. Sauces are served on the side to prevent soggy wings. Orders can be placed online until noon on Feb. 5or by calling local stores directly.

The restaurant’s Philips Arena location is offering a super $35 package that includes two drinks, 10 wings with a side dish, unlimited chips and salsa and a guaranteed seat to watch the big game. Tickets available online.

This is your chance to go Pinterest Crazy for your home party or food that you will be bringing. In my case, I like to purchase verse be creative so don’t forget about contacting your local butcher shops.

Using a play on words, you can tweak some recipes like New York Times best-selling author Atlanta resident Mary Kay Andrews did with Rise Up ‘Ritas and Julio Jones Badass Butterscotch Brownies from her cookbook, The Beach House Cookbook. You can find her original recipes here.

If you are feeling lucky today, the Hudson Grille and 92.9 The Game are giving away two tickets to the Super Bowl! To enter, join them at Hudson Grille Brookhaven from 2pm-7pm this Wednesday, February 1st! Must be present to win, and winner will be selected at random at any time. And, rumor has it that Ellen Degeneres will be at Georgia Tech today giving away tickets too! Most important part of the day is to Rise Up and cheer on the Falcons!
