After weeks of waiting for it to open, and then waiting more weeks for a free night in our schedules, we finally made it to The Butcher and Bottle in Canton. (Plus, we really like to give a restaurant a little time to work out the kinks.)
The Butcher and Bottle opened back in March to a very anxious crowd of diners. The anticipation was like nothing I had seen before. Before they even opened a door, the owners Seth Hendricks and John Bertrand had an online presence with Facebook, asking for feedback and preferences from their future customers. That is not something you see every day.
“Will there be gluten free options?” and, “Will there be a reasonably priced children’s menu?” were just some of the questions people had asked. Beer and alcohol options were also discussed. With so much public excitement and input to this restaurant, we were very anxious to see how it would go.
The Butcher and Bottle menu is full of variety. Appetizers and snacks like deviled eggs, pimento cheese fritters and pork belly mac and cheese make it hard to choose just one. The beer cheese soup is a must try too if that’s your kind of dish!
They also offer a variety of sandwiches including a lamb burger, but the chicken and waffle sandwich is something I hadn’t seen before. Entrees include stuffed salmon, vegetable risotto, fried chicken, rack of lamb and shepherds pie. Plus many different daily selections that always include a seafood choice.
Our meal was very good — but the service is what really stood out. We were accidentally brought the wrong dessert, and as soon as our server realized, we were immediately brought another dessert. And it was taken off of our bill! (I took one for the team and ate the “wrong” dessert anyway.) The desire to keep the customer happy was very obvious at The Butcher and Bottle, which, as we know, usually keeps the customer happy and coming back.
If you have not tried The Butcher and Bottle yet, stop on in. And tell them Scoop sent you.
