According to the Canton-Sixes Patch, A Doug Liman film starring Tom Cruise is looking for paid background actors in Atlanta,
Ball Ground and its surrounding areas. Scoop OTP announced last week that Cherokee County is going to be home to several movies filming around town. Submission deadline for casting call is May 17th.
The filming of “Mena” will begin mid-May and last through July, according to the Georgia TV and Film Production Help Wanted Hotline, which is managed by the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
This is a period film set in the U.S. and South America in the 1970s and 1980s, so the casting company is specifically looking for “men and women with non-contemporary looks”:
As filming begins in the middle of May in Northwest Atlanta, Georgia, they are seeking male or female talents of Colombian or Nicaraguan descent, aged 18 and above. Other Hispanic-looking talents are still encouraged to apply.
Casting directors will be holding an open casting call on Saturday, May 9th from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Gospel Outreach Church, 853 Mineral Springs Rd. Ball Ground, GA 30107.
To apply, please put your exact heritage in the body of the email, as well as your age, height, weight, and other contact information. Also, attach three photos, including one headshot and one body shot. On the subject line, write your Hispanic heritage, such as “Colombian”.
Individuals who own period cars, specifically 1973 to 1986 models, are also invited to have their automobiles become part of the production. As long as your car belongs to the specified period and has not undergone modern upgrades, it will be considered.To submit, please attach photos of your vehicle as well as yourself. Residents are asked to visit Central Casting’s website to send in online submissions. Mena stars Cruise as Barry Seal, a TWA pilot turned drug smuggler for the Medellin cartel. Seal was later recruited to provide intelligence for the DEA and CIA, and was later killed in 1986, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Ball Ground City Manager Eric Wilmarth previously said the main filming location will be on Gilmer Ferry Road between Civic Drive and Old Canton Road. He also said crews also plan to film in several other locations around the city, as well as other parts of Cherokee County, Pickens County and Roswell.
