The Snug Gastro Pub in Canton

The Snug Scoop OTPThe Snug Gastro Pub is the newest restaurant to open in Downtown Canton. The owners are Chef Bryan Rose, Damien Mancini and his parents Don and Linda.  They are hosting a soft opening Wednesday and Thursday for their friends and family. The Snug will open to the public on Friday, May 1st during Canton’s First Friday event.

The Snug took over The Painted Pig location at 190 East Main Street in Downtown Canton. Previous owner Joseph Guynup had an opportunity to sell both his restaurant and bar and is excited about the new owners’ plans.

We had a sneak peak today, and we learned that a “snug” is a small, comfortable public room in a pub that is popular in Europe. Damien spent some time abroad in Belgium and loved the concept. This is Mancini’s first restaurant. Snug Chef and equity partner Bryan Rose was also a partner at Taqueria Tsunami and owner/operator of Pitty’s Pat Porch located ITP. We’re excited for another interesting and creative option for dining in Downtown Canton!

We loved the windows created by JD Glassworks in Woodstock and the beautiful woodwork of The Snug  (handcrafted by Joseph himself!) which we think will be one of the hottest seats in the restaurant. The front windows are removable too, making it feel like a porch!

The Snug Scoop OTPThe menu will be varied with wood-fired pizza, shellfish, steak, and hamburgers. We’ll have the Scoop on the full menu soon — it was still a work in progress today!

The Snug Scoop OTPYou won’t find Miller Light at the Snug, but rather some of Damien’s favorite craft beers that he came to love while in Belgium. We loved the Moscow Mule Copper Mugs they had on display, too.

Upstairs, Damien will continue to book live music and comedians. He enjoys the atmosphere of Eddie’s Attic, and hopes to recreate a similar feeling upstairs.

Follow their Facebook page to stay up to date on the latest acts. Their website is coming soon. Showtimes are 7:30 and 9:30. Food and drink available. $15 cover charge. For reservations email: dlmancini5@gmail.com

Here’s some Scoop about the Snug logo; there are two roses on it. One is for the chef’s last name, and the other is for Damien’s grandmother who was named Rose, and was the chef in their family.

Another great Scoop Approved Canton restaurant is The Study.
