Two New Restaurants Opening in Woodstock

The Johnston Building has been undergoing renovation with plans to include new restaurants. It was just announced that Chef Justin Balmes, who opened Two Birds House Taproom in Marietta, will be the owner of multiple concepts.

According to the Cherokee Ledger, The main level will be the home of a restaurant called Main & Mill Public, an elevated fast-casual (order at the counter) eatery intended for a variety of customers, including families. The menu is planned to rotate seasonally with locally and regionally sourced ingredients. The owner plans to open the public house in the fall or winter this year.

The upper story will house a different concept — Lucky Cat, a tapas restaurant and bar with live music, DJs and games. There, the space is planned to be adults only with live music, bocce court, and a fun atmosphere. Lucky Cat is expected to open two to four weeks after the first restaurant. On Instagram, the restaurant is described as:

A fun, inventive and playful restaurant/lounge coming to Downtown Woodstock late 2019.

Also on Instagram, Justin Balmes, has the website listed as “eatatmainandmill.com” under a search for luckycatwoodstock, but it doesn’t appear to be a working link yet. Stay tuned for logos and menu options as this is all breaking Scoop!

There is room for a third restaurant in the basement, but no plans are in the works yet.
