We finally had a chance to visit South Main Kitchen in Downtown Alpharetta. Everywhere we’ve eaten or visited in Alpharetta has been great, so it’s no surprise that South Main Kitchen was outstanding as well.
Being that I am not a foodie, I’m often just as excited about the décor and atmosphere of a restaurant as much as I am about the meal. South Main is designed with rustic wood accents, an open kitchen, and communal seating that make the experience fun and social. The 1902 building provides the perfect old brick walls for the bar. Old wood and old brick walls are my favorite.
The menu has a good selection of your standard items, but has a nice variety of trendy dishes, too: herb crusted bone marrow, watermelon gazpacho, kale chips, kale salad (is the kale trend not over yet?) We had heard about this amazing Brussels sprout appetizer so we had to order those — they lived up to the talk! We also enjoyed our fish tacos and black and bleu salads.
They have a drink menu with fun titles, like the “Death Avenue Cowboy” and the “Joan Rivers.” We will definitely try a libation when go back for dinner. South Main Kitchen has an impressive outdoor patio that would be a fun place to sit back and enjoy a cocktail, especially as we head into fall temperatures.
We continue to be impressed by the quality of the restaurants in downtown Alpharetta! The food is always good, and the atmosphere and service are welcoming. It makes us wish we lived a little closer! South Main Kitchen fits in perfectly in Alpharetta with its trendy menu, fun drinks and appealing décor. Stop in next time you’re in the area, and tell them Scoop sent you.
South Main Kitchen is located at 9 South Main Street in Alpharetta.
