Father’s Day Ideas from Scoop OTP

What do you get for the Dad who has everything? I like to get my husband things that I would like him to have, but this year I am going to put more effort into it and actually make it something he wants.  Here are some Father’s Day gift suggestions for items you can get in or around OTP.

1278FEupi12A88F3.medFor the Golfer Dad:
You can’t go wrong with getting dad a pass to the new TopGolf in Alpharetta. This is the first venue of its kind in Georgia. Dad will be sure to have fun hitting micro chipped balls into the dartboard-like outfield. Bonus: the atmosphere is fun and party-like, and the food is dynamite. Ask for the inject-able donuts.

For the Hipster Dad:
il_570xN.581659982_mmcdFor the dad who’s into growing a beard or ‘stache, Dreambeard Oil is the perfect gift. With their slogan, “The world is full of guys… Be a Man” you can’t go wrong. It promises to make a beard softer and smoother, to reduce itching, and it smells great. Dreambeard Oils are available at the Local Exchange in Marietta.

For the Water Loving Dad:
terminus1Here’s a gift Dad hasn’t gotten in years prior (because it’s brand new!). Terminus Wakepark, located within the LakePoint Sporting Community just opened this spring. Terminus is the first cable wake boarding park in Georgia, and wake baorders of any level can ride. It’s a great way to try water sports without having to splurge on a boat! Watch from the viewing area, or try it yourself!

For the Gamer Dad:
2ndCharles_wallIf your dad is always talking about how Super Mario Brothers is a much better video game than Halo (which it is, by the way), or discussing who would win in a fight between Superman and Spiderman, you will be sure to find him a real treasure at 2nd & Charles. It’s a buy/sell/trade store that carries tons of old school video games, CD’s, vinyl records, movies, comics and a huge selection of books. It is one of those fun stores whose inventory changes daily, so you need to check back often and be sure to grab something if you see it.

Bow ties are all the rage right now. If your dad likes to sport one, get him one that is made locally! Brier & Moss makes a variety of bow ties, including a large collection made to represent your favorite SEC team. They even have an Atlanta Steeple Chase bow tie! Brier & Moss is available at The Hub in Marietta, or online.

diveFor the Adventurous Dad:
If you’ve heard your dad talk about wanting to become PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) Open Water Scuba Diver, it is now closer to home than you might have thought. Dive Georgia, located in Woodstock, uses an indoor pool and a quarry to do their instruction. They offer a variety of certifications, so if diving is dad’s thing, you need to check them out!

For the Foodie Dad (with a bit of a sweet tooth):
01Locally made High Road Craft Ice Cream is the perfect gift for the dad who appreciates good food and loves dessert. Created by local Chef Keith Schroeder for use in restaurants, people started requesting the ice cream in pints. Now it is available in their factory store and at the Local Exchange in Marietta. Food Network Star (and Marietta resident) Alton Brown has put his stamp of approval on it, so you’re sure to impress your Foodie Dad with High Road Craft Ice Cream.

alpharettaoutfittersFor the Outdoorsy Dad:
Alpharetta Outfitters has everything the Outdoorsy Dad could want: equipment for camping, fishing, hiking, and rock climbing. Bonus: they offer classes and clinics for fly fishing. They carry all of the major brands of gear that the Outdoorsy Dad loves that you can find at the big chains, but why not shop local? The staff is full of helpful advice too.

Happy Father’s Day! If you do happen to use any of our ideas, be sure to tell them Scoop sent you. And let us know if we missed any other OTP suggestions!
