Have you heard about LakePoint Sporting Community? If you haven’t, you will soon enough! LakePoint is a 1200 acre, mixed-use sporting complex that will be one of the world’s largest amateur sporting facilities. With over 5 million square feet of retail, hotels, dining, offices and medical units, LakePoint will offer much more than just sports.
This is different from your typical park with baseball and soccer fields. The state-of-the-art sports complex will be home to over 20 sports! The facility is divided into seven districts, with each district being home to specific sports to make navigating the community simple.
Included are 12 baseball fields with an Atlanta Braves Clubhouse, a water park, 14 multi-use lacrosse and soccer fields, and Terminus Wake Park, which will be the largest cable wake boarding facility in the US.
Sounds like a lot, doesn’t it? There’s more. Rally Volleyball, backed by former beach Volleyball Pro Sinjin Smith, is set to open later this year, and already has EVP national qualifying tournaments on the schedule. A track and field complex, a performance training center and the first Powerade Sports Safety and Hydration Center all are slated for LakePoint.
Not to exclude any outdoor sports, one district will be home to everything outdoors — zip-lining, ropes courses, mountain bike trails, and equestrian trails. This area will also be home to a new Bass Pro Shop, which will be the first on this side of town and is highly anticipated.
Golf will be a big part of LakePoint as well. The Greg Norman Golf Academy will be in a district of its own, and is sure to bring in many tourists.
The final district is situated right on beautiful Lake Allatoona, and will have a resort feel with hotels, lake access and watercraft rentals.
And… there’s talk of a LakePoint “Poler Coaster,” so keep an eye out for that!
While this is a several year process, some parts of LakePoint are scheduled to open Spring 2014. With its impressive list of tenants and partners, we are really expecting big things from LakePoint, and cannot wait to experience it!
