We first heard about Tom+Chee on the popular television show Shark Tank. By taking the classic comfort food of tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, they have added many twists to make this restaurant chain one of the top 25 brands to watch. Their fresh ingredients, healthy alternatives, and a flare for the unexpected creative pairing can make choosing just one to eat a challenge.
Do you want BBQ potato chips and bacon or the Hippy Chee that has humus? You build your own: choose your bread, your meat, type of cheese, and enjoy! They roast their turkey, chicken and beef in house. In addition to the decadent sandwiches, they offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
Scoop suggestion: get a few for the table and share — and save room for dessert!
We were pleasantly surprised by their salad options too, and we loved the little grilled cheese on top (their version of a crouton). This restaurant is for the kid at heart as you can go crazy with your options — healthy or decadent! Of course, there is a kids menu as well.
One of their signature meals is the Grilled Cheese Donut! It has cheddar cheese and glazed donuts as the bread. Tom+Chee has a baker’s dozen challenge where you have to eat 13 grilled cheese donuts, one sitting, one drink, no help and no bathroom break!
They have other fancy grilled cheese donuts too: Bananarama (caramelized banana + gouda) and Mint Summers Night (chocolate mint candy + chocolate mascrapone + fresh strawberries + mozzarella) just to name a couple. Are you hungry yet?
From a food tent on Cincinnati’s Fountain Square in 2009, Tom+Chee has grown to become a Grilled Cheese Phenomenon. They’ve been all over, including shows like “Shark Tank,” “The Chew,” “Man v Food Nation,” and “Amazing Eats.” And NBC’s “Today Show” named their Grilled Cheese Donut a “Best New Sandwich in America.”

Our Scoop is that more Tom+Chee’s are coming to Marietta and Buford (different owner groups) very soon!
