It’s not news we like to start off reporting for 2019, but there are several closings around town that occurred at the end of the year.
For Pollo Tropical fans, it’s time to say adios! The popular Florida based chain has closed all of its Atlanta locations, including the OTP outposts in Kennesaw and Woodstock.
According to Tomorrow’s News Today:
Fiesta Restaurant Group Inc., the Dallas, Texas-based owner of the Pollo Tropical restaurant chain, quietly closed all of their remaining Atlanta area locations effective December 20. The nine Atlanta restaurant closures were in addition five Pollo Tropical closures in Florida and nine of the company’s Taco Cabana restaurants in Texas.
At Avalon, recently opened King Barbecue has already closed. On December 24 on thier Facebook page the post the read:
A HUGE THANK YOU to all our staff, friends, families and local supporters. While it has been incredible, today will be our final day of service at our Avalon location. As we will now be switching our focus to opening a new set of doors in early 2019. We will be open today till 6pm to fulfill all your BBQ needs. Thank you again for all your support and stay tuned for big news to follow.
In Downtown Woodstock, Sweet River Soap Bar stated on their Facebook page:
Sweet River Soap Bar will be closing its doors for good in January. We have loved our time in downtown Woodstock and thank you for your business!
The shop had recently converted over from Sweet River Rough River apparel shop to the a soap bar concept. The Covington and original location is still open. We spoke to the owners of the Woodstock location and they are closing to spend more time with family. We look forward to finding out what will come in that downtown Woodstock prime location!
At the Battery Atlanta, Chef Taft’s concept, Feed Fried Chicken + Such, has closed according to Tomorrow’s News Today.
They haven’t had a Facebook post since July 29th and the article sites that a saturated market and a general lack of “organic traffic” at the complex on non-game days/during the off season was the reason for closing.
Chef Taft’s other Atlanta area restaurants include the Chicken and the Egg, in Marietta, and Brine Seafood Shack, at Avalon in Alpharetta. Taft is supposed to open the Feed concept at Haylcon and Peachtree Corners.
