Who doesn’t love a slice of delicious, homemade pie? I’m not talking about the kind you get at the local supermarket, but rather one that was made fresh, by hand, with quality ingredients. The kind of pie you get at the Pie Bar in Woodstock.
The Pie Bar opened this past September by owners Lauren and Cody Bolden. Before blessing downtown Woodstock with their presence, the two had worked their jobs by day, but made pies by night in their home to take to local farmers markets, private events and for family and friends. After careful consideration, they decided to take the plunge and open up the Pie Bar.
Since opening, they’ve had very positive feedback from their customers. They host a monthly tasting for which they sell only 10 seats. The lucky 10 tasters will then sample a variety of pies and give feedback. The top selections then become the flavors that are on that menu for the following month. I’m not sure how I missed this special ticket-only event, but I will keep an eye out for it on Facebook for sure now that I know!
If you are looking to add a yummy, homemade (by someone else) pie to your Thanksgiving table, the Pie Bar will be taking orders until November 19th. Check out their menu for holiday selections. You might get lucky and be able to do a walk-in order, but don’t take that chance!
You don’t have to wait until Thanksgiving though; stop in, have a seat at the bar on on the couch and try one of their most popular choices. I tried the chocolate bourbon pecan and the peanut butter — they were fabulous. Customers also love coconut cream and buttermilk. You can even enjoy a slice at neighboring Freight Kitchen and Tap, who now offers the pie on their dessert menu.
Take my word, if you’ve ever enjoyed any pie at all, you must try the Pie Bar. Don’t even feel guilty about it. And tell them Scoop sent you!
The Pie Bar is located at 8720 Main Street, Suite 130 in Downtown Woodstock.
