Downtown Canton has seen quite a bit of activity lately with the addition of new restaurants and retailers to both of their main thoroughfare streets, Main and North, making the city a destination for both shopping and dining.
Southernite Interiors, a new home decor and furniture store will officially open for business on Friday, September 1st, just in time for Downtown Canton’s First Friday Festival. We had a sneak peek today with owner Ella Husyman and were impressed with the big statement pieces like bed frames and lamps, as well as everyday decor accessories and candles. With September around the corner, she is gearing up for the holiday season with some fun fall decor pieces too.
Located at 196 North Street in the location formerly occupied by Noni’s Attic, this store has been completely remodeled and refreshed. It is next to the recently opened Steep Tea House and soon to open Local On North restaurant. This first-of-its-kind home store to open in Historic Downtown Canton will feature home decor and furniture, interior design services, Miss Mustard Seed’s milk paint workshops, as well as personal and unique gifts for your next dinner party, birthday, holiday, or special occasion.
Huysamen, owner, founder, and interior designer, wanted this to be more than just a home store. She envisioned a complete home shopping experience for the sophisticated southerner – think French Country meets Southern Farmhouse – with anything needed or wanted for the home. You may have seen their products previoulsy at Queen of Hearts Antiques and Interiors in Alpharetta. As a local Canton resident, she is excited to open on North Street and stated:
We want this store to be a gift to the community!
Ella and husband, Shaune, are residents of Hickory Flat are and are also owners of Whitetail Bicycles & Coffee Shop in the Crabapple area of Milton.
Southernite Interiors will be open Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-6pm and will be open later for First Fridays. You can visit their website or Facebook page for more information.
Canton has been a buzz with new openings lately. Just down the street, Indigo and Oak recently relocated from North Street to Main Street into the Chamberhouse Building. Zach Kell’s latest restaurant, Queenies, offering southern food has been a great addition to the area, and Chicago based Italian restaurant, Mamma Onesta opened this summer too. In addition, a Panera Bread Company and more retailers are expected to open in a revitalized historic school property. It’s an exciting time in Canton and Southernite Interiors is adding more choices for home decor and design to the area.
