Georgia has quickly become the “Hollywood of the South” according to Project Casting. In little less than a decade, more movies and TV shows are filming in the Peach state than most places around the world. In fact, a recent study has put Georgia as the third largest film industry in the world only behind the United Kingdom. And with the recent BREXIT issues, expect Georgia’s film industry to only grow and possibly become the number #1 filmmaking location in the world. Here are some of the projects filming around town.

The War With Grandpa,” starring Robert De Niro and Uma Thurman, “abruptly” changed locations from Toronto to Atlanta, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The article states that the project got an “attractive offer” from Georgia that included tax credits that reimburse the salaries of major stars. The movie is about a grandson whose grandfather moves in with him, which leads to a prank war erupting between the two. It hits theaters Oct. 20, so watch for upcoming casting calls.

Den of Thieves centers around $120 million that is taken out of circulation on a daily basis by the Los Angeles branch of the Federal Reserve and a notorious crew of robbers that plan the ultimate heist right under the noses of the city’s best cops. This movie Stars Gerard Butler and 50 cent. 

Sylvester Stallone stars in “Escape Plan 2,” the sequel to the 2013 film that featured a security expert named Ray Breslin, who used his skills to test out the reliability of maximum security prisons.

Game Night is about a group of friends who meet regularly for game nights find themselves trying to solve a murder mystery. Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman star in this film. Bateman has been filming the Netflix TV Show Ozark too.

Manifesto” centers around the story of how the FBI brought down one of the most infamous criminal masterminds in the world — Ted Kaczynski, also known as the Unabomber — from the point of view of an FBI profiler. This Discovery Channel TV has Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti as executive producers of the series. Manifesto signs have been spotted OTP.

Candy Jar stars Helen Hunt, Uzo Aruba, Christina Hendricks, Tom Bergeron, Jacob Lattimore. Details surrounding the Netflix movie have not yet been released to the public, but there have been casting calls!

A reimagining of the classic series, is an action-adventure drama about 20-something Angus “Mac” MacGyver who creates a clandestine organization within the U.S. government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem solving and vast scientific knowledge to save lives.

An untitled project stars Reba McEntire as Ruby Adair, the sheriff of colorful small town Oxblood, KY, who finds her red state outlook challenged when a young FBI agent of Middle Eastern descent is sent to help her solve a horrific crime.

Also, recently announced is The Last Full Measure starring Samuel L Jackson and Bradley Whitford in this true untold Vietnam era story 34-years after his death, Airman William H. Pitsenbarger, Jr. (“Pits”) is awarded the nations highest military honor for his actions on the battlefield.  Tammy Smith Casting has started Casting Calls.
