Just barely OTP, Hammock’s Trading Company is a new establishment that just opened in August. If you are looking for a place that has a little something for everyone, Hammock’s Trading Company is it.
Owners Jason Sheetz and Chef William Sigley renovated the restaurant with the help of some friends. And after a long and hot summer of labor, they now have the fresh, airy, beautiful restaurant to show for it. Chef Sigley wanted to keep the ambiance casual and the food delicious.
Fresh oysters and clams, shrimp, scallops, baked salmon, catfish, mixed fry, and battered fish tacos are just some of the daily seafood choices. But if seafood doesn’t quite suit your palate, there are also entree choices of chicken, pork, and brisket. And if you’re one of those folks who must have a steak, Chef Sigley’s rib eye steak will melt in your mouth.
A feature on the menu that I just love is the selection of Small Plates. This is exactly what it sounds like: a smaller version of a meal that is perfect for sampling. The warm, housemade barbecue chips are still lingering in my head! Other choices include beef or turkey sliders, steamed mussels, and the popular mixed fry. All of this plus the daily seasonal soups and in-house made desserts really set Hammock’s apart from your average chain restaurant.
Hammocks also has a full bar with an extensive wine list, local, American, and imported beer on draft, and a variety of martinis and cocktails. Same as with the menu — there is something for everyone.
Here at Scoop, we love to support individually owned businesses who are making the ordinary extraordinary — and Hammock’s Trading Company is doing just that.
