We are most definitely late to the party for visiting Roswell’s Table & Main. But we had a feeling it was going to be a great experience, so we waited until we could get a free night with both of our husbands, no children, and no other outside commitments. Flash forward two years, and we finally made the reservation!
Table & Main is Ryan Pernice’s first restaurant. We had already visited his second, Osteria Mattone, and were very pleased and anxious to try Table & Main with its simple, seasonal, southern menu.
Of course, I tend to look at the menu beforehand, so I already knew I would be placing my standard order for fried chicken. But I’m a simple eater, which is why it is always good to have other, more epicuriously-brave people join me when dining out.
Table & Main is small but cozy — it’s hard not to befriend the table next to you. And from start to finish, the service was fantastic.
As soon as we sat down, we received a mason jar filled with homemade cheese straws — much more enticing than the typical bread basket! We devoured them and were graciously brought more, since we were obvious first timers.
Our server was very happy to explain all of the various menu choices, which can change daily based on the season and the vegetables they have on hand. So everything is fresh!
As I said, I ordered my go-to fried chicken, but the rest of the table ordered shrimp and grits, rabbit and dumplings, sauerkraut soup and short ribs.
By all accounts, everyone was extremely happy with their choices, but the fried chicken presentation definitely got the biggest reaction — even from the table next to us! The huge portion was enough for me to take home for another full meal for my hungry teenage son.
The service was stellar, and we cannot wait to go back and visit in the warmer months and enjoy one of their signature cocktails or a dessert on their patio in the unique downtown Roswell vibe.
