Maybe it’s because I am from South Florida, but I get very excited when I hear of a new seafood restaurant in town. Reel Seafood opened last May in downtown Woodstock.
I have visited the restaurant for both lunch and dinner and have found the owner Karen Silverman very hospitable and engaging with her guests. Her husband David is the executive chef and changes the menu based on the season for the freshest fish and ingredients.
I like that they have an interactive bar area overlooking the open kitchen, or a separate bar area where you can order your full meal or just grab a drink. (When the weather cooperates, they have a nice patio area!) One of their specialty drinks is vodka that has been steeped over fresh pineapple slices. Yum!
For non-fish lovers like my Scoop partner Michelle, don’t worry — they have plenty of tasty meat and chicken options for you. If you have special dietary needs or need something gluten free, the kitchen can and wants to accommodate you.
When I look at a menu, I love seeing many items that interest me. Of course, my husband then has to order whatever I couldn’t decide between.
Everything sounded so good and then tasted great! We started with oysters and had fish entrees for dinner. I don’t think it matters which “fish of the day” you select or how you get it prepared — everything was fresh and delicious.
(Bonus: The evening we dined, we ran into several other friends who all raved about their meals too!)
With David’s past experience as Executive Chef at both Prime and Strip, and Karen’s hospitality background – they go one step further to make sure you enjoy Reel Seafood.
One example of this is when some friends of mine had to wait an extremely long time as a walk in. They were given a very generous gift certificate to return, which is great restaurant public relations and going above and beyond the call of service. We do recommend making a reservation, though!
So if you want to have a nice date night, watch a game, bring the family for Sunday brunch (with a Bloody Mary bar with all the fixings!), or have a business meeting in a private room, Reel can be your destination. Tell Karen Scoop sent you!
