My girlfriend from Miami recently insisted I meet her at Papi’s Cuban & Caribbean Grill on Chastain in Kennesaw. I gladly obliged — I was craving Cuban!
They have an extensive Cuban and Caribbean menu with traditional items and their daily specials. Again, I am not a foodie, but I know a good Cuban sandwich when I taste one. And when I do find something I enjoy, I order it every single time. It’s the whole reason I go to the restaurant!
Sometimes at Papi’s I’ll get the pork version (Rey’s Cuban Sandwich) and sometimes the chicken (Pollo Cuban), but I always get a Cuban! My friend likes to get their Palomilla Steak entree. And of course we both love the white rice/black bean (Frilojes Negros) combo and their sweet plantains (Maduros). Papi’s also serves their Cubans as wraps if you’re interested, and they offer fresh cut yuca fries verses french fries.
The overall restaurant scene is busy with a 
bustling lunch crowd. The restaurant offers daily lunch specials at $6.99 from 11-2 on weekdays. They also offer vegetarian selections. And their Kennesaw location has patio seating and live music on the weekends.
The most interesting concept about the restaurant is the history of how it got started.
