It was a cold wintery day and we decided to spend some Forced Family Fun together over the winter break. Now, seeing a movie seems counter-productive because you aren’t talking to your family. But at Movie Tavern, not only could we discuss the movie after, we could also the discuss the food.
Yes, Movie Tavern is a distinct new theater that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, has a full liquor license, fancy milkshakes, gourmet desserts and more. Of course, the traditional popcorn and candy options are available too. They have three OTP locations: Roswell, Suwanee, and Tucker.
The theater we sat in was quaint with maybe 50 stadium seats. Each seat is larger than a normal theater seat and has a table that slides in and out for your food. You arrive 30 minutes early to review the menu, push a button when you are ready to order, and the food arrives very silently so as not to interrupt your movie. You can push the button at any time to remove the food, order something different, or request more ketchup.
Of course, we rang for popcorn shortly after the movie started. But as for our dinners, we ordered a shrimp po boy, a pizza, a thai chicken flatbread, and a spicy buffalo chicken wrap accompanied by milkshakes and beers. All were very yummy!
The Roswell menu was diverse including salad options and the most impressive cakes and desserts. Unfortunately, my children are programmed for M&M’s and Sour Patch Kids for their movie watching experience, so we didn’t indulge in Movie Tavern’s dessert selection.
Prices are comparable to any restaurant chain around. They even have the Movie Tavern Tanker, which is $9.00 for a large beer mug that you can bring back for refills. They have a full bar and restaurant outside of the theaters as well, so if you prefer to eat before going into the cinema, you can do that too.
Movie Tavern also has a large theater that that seats 200+ with even more impressive chairs and plays the latest first run movies. This would be a great location for a birthday party, private corporate event, or a fun evening out with family and friends. The Roswell location has 11 screens with the digital movie experience sound quality, retro cinema showing movie classics, breakfast and a flick on Saturday and Sunday at 9am, and a real 3D theater too.
Each Movie Tavern may differ slightly, so visit their website or Facebook page for more information. This concept is similar to Studio Movie Grill, which we have reviewed previously and also love. Be sure to check these guys out!
