Many Cobb and Cherokee County bike and outdoor enthusiasts enjoy local walking trails, but are not able to connect to the larger trails in the region. The AJC reported that Cherokee County board of commissioners has agreed to work as project manager to help close the 4 mile gap between Cherokee and Cobb’s Noonday Park trail.
According to the plan, Cherokee will extend its trail two miles south, and Cobb will add two miles north on their existing trails.
Why does this matter? Once connected to Cobb’s system, the Woodstock trail would be part of a network extending beyond Marietta to the Silver Comet Trail in southern Cobb and the Beltline Trail in the city of Atlanta.
