While out exploring, we stumbled upon a restaurant named Cheeky. Due to the big screen TV’s, we assumed we were entering a sports pub. We even thought the food may be pub-style, as we have heard the British expression “Cheeky” before. We were wrong!
Cheeky is the nickname of the owner Jose Hevia’s grandfather, whose mexican recipes are used in many of their meals. This Mexican Cantina has three OTP locations: Suwannee, Cumming and East Cobb. It’s a great place for just about everything — from a quick dinner with the kids, to girl’s lunching, to men watching their sports games.
We were pleasantly surprised at the upholstered and high-back wrapped cushions in the booths. The atmosphere and even their wooden menus suggest something is going to be different about this restaurant, and it was. In fact, their whole concept and tag line is, “Redefining Mexican cuisine, one gringo at a time.”
The Cheeky Steak Cobb was huge and delicious; they have a variety of original tacos, like Chipotle BBQ, and at a great price!
One fun thing to do is try to eat their 7 pound “No Way Jose” Burrito for $30; if you can finish it, you have your meal for free. Or it might just be the perfect item to share with someone.
We also love great kids specials. Cheeky has $5.00 kids meals and a fun interactive Coca-Cola machine for any flavor of soda.
Since we were on a working lunch hour at the Cumming/Forsyth location, we weren’t eyeing the signature cocktails. But we later found out that Cheeky in Suwanee is America’s first establishment to offer beer taps at your table — you can pour as you go! And the Cumming location is the first in the world to feature J.C.’s Pourhouse and interactive beer tables. Oh my… we need to go back soon and bring the hubbies for the PYOB (pour your own beer!).
