Zoës Kitchen, A Healthy Alternative

25What happens when you mix Mediterranean-inspired cooking and Southern hospitality? You get Zoës Kitchen, a restaurant chain that has just opened its newest OTP locations in Roswell and Alpharetta.

I’m a big fan of quick/casual restaurants, and even though Scoop tries not to feature chain businesses, this is a unique and healthy alternative restaurant that has just started expanding OTP. And since Zoës has a fresh twist to their menu items, we felt it was a great fit for January (otherwise known as, “The Diet Month”) scoop!

Creator Zoë Cassimus’ menu is inspired by Zoë’s family recipes and her simple, fresh-from-the-garden sensibility. She says, “If it wasn’t food 100 years ago, it’s not food today.” Nothing is fried and there are no microwaves! Grilling is the predominate method of cooking along with an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh herbs, olive oil, and img33lean proteins; Zoës Kitchen also offers gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options to their customers.

I had a Zoë favorite: the Greek Salad with grilled chicken and their homemade Greek dressing. I loved it — and the portion was huge! My son ordered a Gruben (think a reuben but with turkey), which was also very tasty. Previously, I had picked up their hummus and pimento salad to bring home — a good sample mix of their Mediterranean and Southern flavors, both of which were scoop approved!

They have dinners to go, a kids menu, and all fresh side options like roasted vegetables and braised white beans — no french fries here! Enjoy your Scoop Approved meal at Zoës Kitchen. By the way, Zoë in Greek means Life… just a little Greek scoop!
