Drumroll please… It is reported in Sixes Living Magazine that Goodwill has purchased the vacant building formerly intended to be the Food Lion on Bells Ferry at Wyngate Parkway. If you are like me and have driven by there every day for years now wishing and dreaming for a Trader Joes or something unique to fill that vacant shopping center, it appears to be a done deal.
The big, vacant big strip center has been used for lacrosse wall ball practice and kid’s learning how to ride bikes and drive cars. I assume the success of the Goodwill location inside Hobgood park may have something to do with that location choice, but we do have a large Goodwill store in Woodstock on Hwy 92 and three other close by locations in Canton. Hopefully that anchor store will help generate some new and different businesses to fill the remaining vacancies.
Woodstock City Manager Jeff Moon told Scoop OTP that an Applebee’s restaurant is coming to the Outlets Shoppes at Atlanta. With their menu endorsed by Weight Watchers, they have something for everyone and will be a good fit in the area.
According to the Sixes Living magazine Around Sixes in their July Issue, Starbucks has applied to modify a building at the corner of Parkway 575 & Highway 92.
In that same article, it is reported that Sam’s Club has filed the permits to tear down the old Walmart at the corner of Main Street and Highway 92 and construct a new building.
That’s the dirt — construction dirt that is!
