After our last few visits to downtown Marietta; we can say that we are thrilled to have a $5.00 valet parking as an option on the weekends. Parking isn’t just a problem in Marietta, we have experienced it in several OTP cities. In fact, Roswell just added a 90-day trial of free trolley. With the Square home to so many unique restaurants, retail shops, and events, the city draws locals residents and ITPers who want to visit the historic and bustling square.
Cobb commissioners waved the green flag for a valet service to commence downtown operations. This 90-day license agreement with Marietta-based Georgia Valet Services is for the lease of 50 spaces in the county’s Waddell Street parking deck, allowing the company to offer valet parking from 5 to 11 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and all day Saturday. The motion was unanimously approved Tuesday according to the Marietta Daily Journal.
The spaces to be set aside for the valet service are all on the top floor of the seven-story deck. Free, unassisted parking will still be available to the general public on all other floors duirng those hours.
Georgia Valet’s plans, as previously outlined with the city, would see customers pay $5 to use the service. Loading and unloading would occur on Root Street, which runs between North Park Square and the First Baptist Church of Marietta. A customer would be able to request their car’s return with a text message to the company. For more details, refer to the Marietta Daily Journal article.
Hopefully, this valet option will alleviate driving around in circles!
