Giving Back Never Looked So Good – UB4ME

Buying a great product and helping out a worthwhile charitable cause is a win-win retail therapy purchase. These fabulous Made OTP t-shirts fit the bill. The company is UB4Me Apparel with an aptly named website www.shirtsthatgive.com.  We were excited to visit the owner Jennifer, since retail shop in DT Alpharetta has moved to 2 Milton Avenue due to her company’s success.  Not only is her shirt business booming, but her jeans and accessories make this shirt store, now a great overall boutique!

Years ago, when the construction business came to a halt, Jennifer and her husband Ken Manisco of the Crabapple area of Roswell started UB4ME Apparel. They loved the idea of a business that had an element of giving back to the community. Designing, printing, and selling women’s boutique style t-shirts that benefit a variety of charities seemed like a fun way to do this.

After purchasing a screen printing press, Ken taught himself the process of screen-printing original and trendy designs onto shirts.  They started with simple Halloween designs on burnout t-shirts.  And since October was Breast Cancer Awareness month, they made a $5.00 donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation for every shirt sold.

Then when November rolled around they made a shirt with a “Thankful” design. For each of those shirts sold, Jennifer and Ken bought a Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless at Atlanta Mission. They were even featured on a TV news segment called “Positively Georgia” for their good business practice. Since then, they have continued designing and selling shirts for those two charities, as well as for CURE Childhood Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Smile Train, and more.

The shirts have pretty, unique images on them that usually tie into the charity in some way. For example, the shirt for CURE Childhood Cancer says “Love Cures All.”  And the tag explains which charity that shirt benefits.

The shirts are super soft and have a great fit too!

Many of the designs are available at OTP great retail therapy locations such as
Alpharetta: Sis & Moon’s and Illuminations
Forsyth Avenues: Carta Bella
Roswell: Gifted

and now they have their own expanded retail location too in dowtown Alpharetta at 2  Milton Avenue. Stop in and tell Jennifer Scoop OTP sent you!  I fell in love with the Blessed Mom shirt, perfect for Mother’s Day or anyday!

Charities often approach UB4ME for large fundraising events. For the past two years, they have designed a shirt benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for their Shamrockin’ for a Cure event at the Verizon Amphitheater. Most attendees pre-order the “Shamrock Shirt” and wear it to the event. UB4ME donates $5.00 for each shirt that is sold, leading up to the event and at the event. “When we partner with the charity we can make a bigger impact in the fundraising.” And the chose the other charities just because they are close to their heart. Scoop loves that!

Prices range from $35 to $44. Email UB4ME at jennifer@ub4meapparel.com, or call them at 404-754-3100.
