If you’ve been to Downtown Roswell, you probably know that there are many great restaurants in that area. And it can be difficult to decide just where to grab that quick lunch, or where to enjoy your evening out. If you venture just down the street a short way from the heart of downtown, you will find The Mill Kitchen & Bar.
We had driven by The Mill a few times before, and it was on our list of places to check out. So when our friends at Girlstime.me invited us for lunch, we were excited to finally get to try it.
When we arrived, the place was full! It’s definitely a great local spot for lunch. We sat in the bar area, which was a little quieter — perfect for our gathering. Immediately Chef Ben, The Mill’s Executive Chef, gave us a wave and I have to say, it made me feel important!
Not long after that, Chef Ben came to speak to us. Since he was so approachable, I asked him what made The Mill different from all of the other restaurants in the area. He answered that while many restaurants claim to be farm to table, The Mill goes beyond that. A quick glance at their super-trendy giant chalkboard showed all of the farms they support (their website has a full list as well).
Our lunches were delicious! And as expected, the presentation was beautiful; the beet and watermelon salad was a work of art. While we were enjoying our meals, the owner Randy McCray came out to speak with us and be sure we were enjoying ourselves. There is something about when the owner of an establishment stops by to say hello that just makes you feel special — I know they do it to everyone, but it’s so nice when a restaurant goes the extra mile.
Even though it was lunchtime, I perused the dinner and cocktail menu. Got kids? Kids eat free at The Mill weeknights 5-8. And I am very much looking forward to going back after 5 one night for one of their speakeasy style cocktails, like a Rosemary Manhattan, or the Tipsy Pig. And you should too! Tell them Scoop sent you.
The Mill Kitchen & Bar is located at 590 Mimosa Boulevard, Roswell, GA.
