The Blue Ghost Arcade Opening Spring 2021

The Blue Ghost Arcade is coming to downtown Woodstock in Spring of 2021.  It will be located at 150 Towne Lake Parkway Suite 164 near J Miller’s Smokehouse and Maxwell’s Cigar Bar.

The mission is to connect an old generation of games with a new generation of players.  The Arcade will also featuring a full bar, 40+ retro arcade games, pinball machines, and console games.  Unlimited play is included in admission price of $15, and there is a $60 monthly package price, and annual passes too.
In a conversation with owner, Bug McBride, he said while he loves being downtown, he has struggled to find opportunities that both adults and kids can enjoy.  When he lived in Chicago, he took his daughters to free-play retro arcades and thought this would be a great fit in Woodstock.

The games are his passion.

Each arcade cabinet and pinball machine has a story behind it.  I have pulled them out of warehouses and basements and church recreation rooms.  I have restored them back to working order in my garage.

They have got favorites from the 80’s like Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, Donkey Kong and Centipede.  From the 90’s, they’ve brought in head-to-head fighting and 4-player beat ‘em up games like Mortal Kombat 2, Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition, the Simpsons and TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).   They also selected pinball machines from McBride’s personal favorites, including Creature from the Black Lagoon and Twilight Zone.  The nostalgia factor hits hard with the old arcade games.  The technology may not have the novelty it once did, but the games are no less engaging.  Still, patrons of the Blue Ghost will have the option of playing consoles like NES Classic, N64, PS5, and Xbox Series X in living room style couch areas or sitting at the bar.

A full list of games is available on the website.

For those 21 and older, there will be full bar carrying some local draft bars. You can also be under 21 to enter, but if you are under 12, you do need to be with an adult.  Prepackaged concessions like candy and chips will be offered, and maybe fresh popcorn.

Even though this isn’t a new concept, it’s new to Woodstock, and will be a great addition!
