SMIJ by Jill: Suburban Moms in Jeans

SMIJ Scoop OTPIt is always so fun finding unique locally made products when we are visiting OTP retail stores.

On my last trip to Henry & Pearl, I noticed some really cute burn-out style t-shirts — much different than the other varieties they carry.

The tags read “SMIJ: Suburban Moms in Jeans.” I figured these had to be from California. So I did my usual inquiry with the store owner, and sure enough they were made locally by a girl in town!

The Seaside Resort Cover-UpSMIJ by Jill was created out of a passion for the beach lifestyle. Owner Jill Myrick, a Florida native and beach girl at heart, missed the beach life so badly upon moving to the Atlanta area, that she decided to put that love into the form of a business.

Jill was planning her next trip and realized she didn’t like any of the beach cover-ups she saw in the stores. So she decided to create her own.

Jill’s resort cover-ups are made of crisp, southern fabrics and are a wraparound dress style, making them perfect to slip on over a swimsuit and wear back in town.

After she started designing the beach cover-ups, she launched her line of SMIJ t-shirts and hoodies to celebrate the SMIJ lifestyle. Jill’s father has been in the t-shirt business for many years, so adding that to her business felt natural.

Living in UGGS HoodyThe t-shirts and hoodies are stylish enough to wear out and about, but comfy enough for lounging around the house. And with witty names like “Running To The Bus Stop Hoody,” or “Living In UGGS Hoody” you can’t go wrong.

Starting this year, she will have a new t-shirt design every month, and once they are gone, they are gone! So you will want to check in frequently to see what each month’s design is.

Right now, SMIJ is available online and at Henry & Pearl in Milton. There may be other retail locations in the future as well.

Also coming this spring will be a line of beach shorts. In the meantime, we suggest you start your beach dreaming early by checking out SMIJ online — you’ll be the best dressed at the beach this year! And tell her Scoop sent you.
