Art studios seem to be popping up all over the place lately. While art is in itself almost always unique, PLaY! Music & Art, located in the Hickory Flat Area of Canton, is unique and then some.
We were lucky enough to meet Lara, the studio owner, at a photo shoot for Canton Magazine with a group of women chosen as “Mompreneurs.” Intrigued by the idea of a combined music and art studio, we decided to go check out her place.
The studio is run by Lara and her husband; Lara handles the art side of classes, and her husband teaches the music students. Both had been teaching and giving lessons previously, and really felt there was a need for a studio that could offer both of these disciplines to local students. Fast forward three years, and PLaY! Music & Art is thriving.
The studio has several private, soundproof rooms for keyboard, guitar, violin, drum and voice lessons. All skill levels are welcome. Audio technology and music theory are also offered as a group class. Art and painting classes are offered in a group setting. And if you’re a grown up, no worries! They offer adult “Pinot and Paint” classes, so no one in the family is left out. Birthday parties are also something they offer, and will customize to your individual needs.
Lara says the best part about her job is the people she has met. Watching people be creative while getting to work on her own painting is something she loves.
