Last August, we reported that the owners of Marietta’s El Nopal Mexican Restaurant were expanding to Sixes Road in Canton with a new restaurant called Nuevos Amigos Cocina Mexicana. They will now be opening March 4, 2019 according to an email from The Hammonds, the owner.
Due to permit delays, construction didn’t begin on time. But, they are now underway with grading and a plan in place to open January 2019. Then, in the spring, their upper level -an over 21 patio and outdoor garden and fountain area – will open for Phase 2. You can follow their new Facebook page for updates.
Canton residents Greg and Diane Hammond have been in the restaurant business for 25+ years. They look forward to opening a neighborhood restaurant with a classic menu.
El Nopal is known for their lunch buffet and this restaurant will continue the tradition of serving a large amount of selections for a great value. All items are prepared fresh that day, and if you are on a quick lunch break, you will be able to get in and out quickly while enjoying some good food.
Hammond said:
Our dinner menu will be traditional Mexican dishes with authentic flair. We aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel or over complicate things We just want to do what we do really well.
On Saturdays and Sundays, they will feature more authentic dishes on their brunch buffet, including home made tortillas.
As residents of the area, we look forward to their opening and checking out what is sure to be a fantastic view from their patio.
