Margaritaville Resort Proposed in Atlanta

The 2014 rumor about a Margaritaville themed resort just got a serious push toward reality this week when developers proposed the building to the City of Atlanta.

Curbed Atlanta reported that Wyndham Destinations and Margaritaville Vacation Club recently filed plans with the City of Atlanta for a 21-story resort and restaurant that would include more than 200 “vacation ownership units.”

The proposed complex would be located across from Centennial Park at 154 Nassau Street. The restaurant portion would be a two story, 14,000 square foot building facing the park. In total, the resort would be over 292,000 square feet and be 22 stories. The Nassau Street building located between the Tabernacle and the park is said to be “home” to country music — dating back to a recording from the 1920’s — so there could be some resistance to converting the space into a cheeseburger in paradise.

The Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville concept has started at Lake Lanier as well, which seems a more appropriate place for the resort. They also recently launched party yachts that set sail this past Cinco de Mayo.
