Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday have come and gone; now it’s time for Giving Tuesday. If you aren’t familiar, Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to give back to local charities that support our communities every day.
There are so many local charities that you can support, but since we are in the business of giving shout outs, we will give you some of our staff favorites. First is the STAR House in Roswell. STAR House provides after school care for at-risk grade school children in the community with coaching, tutoring and guidance. Our own food contributor Joe Duffy is an active volunteer there, and his stories will warm your heart.
The Children’s Haven in Cherokee County provides support for children in foster care with their CASA program. They provide a safe place for visitation for families in need of supervised visitation, and they raise awareness and support for preventing child abuse and neglect.
Must Ministries with locations in both Marietta and Canton help feed those in need and so much more. Your donation of $100 will feed a family of 4 for a week from our food pantry or feed a child for the entire summer (10 weeks). Your gift of $1,000 will provide steel-toed boots to 25 clients who are ready to begin work in a warehouse or at a construction site. You can give here.
You can search other local charities on the Georgia Gives website. We don’t care who you choose to give to, just remember to give on Giving Tuesday.
