What do you get when you take an energetic, food-loving woman named Mary, and delicious, locally farmed cheese? You get Cheeses & Mary, an artisanal cheese shop located in Milton.
Cheeses & Mary just opened its own store this month, bringing its high quality, farm fresh handmade cheeses to OTP. Mary is like many of the business owners we meet — she had worked previously in the corporate world. Her husband is a chef, so when the time came for her to start her own venture, something food-related was perfect!
Mary is passionate about supporting local businesses in the community. All of her cheese is made from the milk of cows, goats and sheep that are raised sustainably or certified natural. She also stocks a variety of yummy jams, jellies, honeys, salts and seasonings. All locally produced as well.
So why would you want to make a separate stop to pick up cheese? The service, of course! Mary is a plethora of knowledge when it comes to pairing cheeses with different herbs, crackers, wines and jellies.
I was fortunate enough to have tasted several of her products at a “Women and Wine” networking event this summer, and it is so nice to have someone who knows much more than I do tell me what pairs well with what. I have also seen her in action in her store, and she is so spirited about her cheeses that it is just a pleasure being there.
