Update: Whole Foods Market will open a new store in Kennesaw on Friday, October 6 at 1300 Ernest Barrett Parkway. This store will be a relocation of Whole Foods Market’s Harry’s Farmers Market store in Marietta, which will close October 5. Opening day shoppers will be greeted with an array of product demonstrations and samples, and the first 500 customers will receive free gifts cards ranging in amounts from $5 to $50 with one $500 card.
Five percent of opening day sales will be donated to the Swift-Cantrell Foundation, which supports the development of Kennesaw’s Swift-Cantrell Park.
Also, on Saturday, September 30, there will be a big free block party with food, kid’s activities, a DJ, and local vendors.
When is the Whole Foods in Kennesaw going to open? We have been asked that question since 2014 when the grocery chain first announced that a location was opening on Highway 41 and Barrett Parkway in the new Kennesaw Marketplace. Tomorrow News Today reports that they are expected to open Friday, October 6th and that the opening of the new Whole Foods will coincide with the closure of Harry’s Farmers Market in Marietta, about six miles away. The closure of Harry’s Marietta, slated for Wednesday, October 4, will mark the end of the Atlanta-born brand.
After a recent visit to the shopping center development, the other retailers told me that October 10th is the date they were given, so perhaps there will be a soft opening and a grand opening event. Either way, the end is in sight and as we get closer to the opening date, we will share the details and specials.
If you haven’t been to the shopping development yet, it is home to Academy Sports, Hobby Lobby, Mod Pizza, Burger 21, Newk’s Eatery, Freddy’s Custard, Otter’s Chicken and many more restaurants and retail shops. I even came across a fun gift shop, Little Red Bird Gifts, right near the Whole Foods.
