According to What’s on Netflix, a new series entitled “A Man in Full” has been filming specifically in the Woodstock area. The series is based on the book by the same name by author Tom Wolfe.
The series is being produced by David E. Kelly and Regina King. Emmy winner Kelly has produced dozen of other shows, but most recently has done “Big Little Lies” and “The Lincoln Lawyer”, and will serve as showrunner, writer and producer. Oscar winner King is set to direct at least the pilot.
A Man in Full is a 1998 best selling book set in Atlanta. The Amazon description follows:
The setting is Atlanta, Georgia — a racially mixed, late-century boomtown full of fresh wealth and wily politicians. The protagonist is Charles Croker, once a college football star, now a late-middle-aged Atlanta conglomerate king whose outsize ego has at last hit up against reality. Charlie has a 29,000 acre quail-shooting plantation, a young and demanding second wife, and a half-empty office complex with a staggering load of debt.
Meanwhile, Conrad Hensley, idealistic young father of two, is laid off from his job at the Croker Global Foods warehouse near Oakland and finds himself spiraling into the lower depths of the American legal system.
And back in Atlanta, when star Georgia Tech running back Fareek “the Canon” Fanon, a homegrown product of the city’s slums, is accused of date-raping the daughter of a pillar of the white establishment, upscale black lawyer Roger White II is asked to represent Fanon and help keep the city’s delicate racial balance from blowing sky-high.
Tentatively starring as the lead character is Jeff Daniels. Diane Lane and Ozark’s Tom Pelphrey have also been cast as main characters. Lucy Liu has also committed to the show.
Also filming in Canton and Woodstock is the upcoming show “These Stones” starring Madeline Carroll, Karen Abercrombie and Charlene Amoia.
The story line is about a mother being killed and a wayward daughter finds herself amidst a supernatural system matching mysterious visitors from the past to people facing challenges today. The production company is Argentum Entertainment.
