As a University of Florida alumni and huge Gator fan, of course I love Tim Tebow. His strong character and class was shown to everyone (fan or not!) at the Night to Shine event, sponsored by the Tim Tebow foundation.
Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs ages 16 and older. On one night, February 12, 2016, more than 200 host churches in 48 states and 8 countries will host Night to Shine. That’s more than 70,000 volunteers and 30,000 honored guests sharing the same amazing prom experience on the same night around the world. In Atlanta, the event was held at several locations OTP, but Tebow was spotted at First Woodstock Baptist in Woodstock, GA hosted by Pastor Johnny Hunt and his wife, Janet.
The other churches that participated were First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville, Gwinnett Church in Sugar Hill, and Hopewell Baptist Church in Gainesville. This is the second year of this event and it grew from 50 churches to 200. Mr. Tebow stopped by several churches that night, including one in Haiti this year!
The event provides a red-carpet entrance complete with a friendly welcome from paparazzi, limousine rides, hair and makeup stations, shoe shining areas and, of course, a dance floor. Each guest receives a crown or tiara because they are all kings and queens for the night.
There are videos of Tim on First Baptist Church Facebook page. You can also watch an ABC interview about Night to Shine and his inspiration to start the event.
