Update: First home game January 9. Here’s their schedule.
Let’s welcome The Georgia Swarm; a professional lacrosse team coming to the Arena at Gwinnett Center in January! The Swarm previously was a Minnesota team.
Maybe it’s because our boys play high school and summer travel club lacrosse, but Scoop OTP is very excited to cheer on this new team for OTP and Georgia!

According to Lax Magazine:
The franchise will be named the Georgia Swarm and has agreed in principle on a lease agreement to play its home games at The Arena at Gwinnett Center (Duluth, Ga.) in Gwinnett County, which is located 25 minutes northeast of Atlanta.
“Today is an exciting day as we open a new chapter in team history,” Swarm Owner John Arlotta said in a press release. “The sport of lacrosse is growing at a rapid pace in Georgia and we’re thrilled to bring the fastest game on two feet at the professional level to The Arena at Gwinnett Center. With its high-scoring nature, and gameplay which resembles hockey and basketball in many ways, the NLL is enjoyable for lacrosse and non-lacrosse fans alike, and is great family entertainment.”
“Lacrosse is a great sport and it will add another dimension to family entertainment at Gwinnett Center and in metro-Atlanta as well,” said Joseph Dennis, general manager of Gwinnett Center. “We are excited to have the National Lacrosse League as a tenant team in The Arena for years to come.”
