Sugar Cakes on the Square

I love a place where I can just pop in, whether I want an actual sit down meal, a little sweet treat, or a cup of coffee. Sugar Cakes Patisserie is just that kind of place.

Located on a corner of the Marietta Square, Sugar Cakes started as just a bakery, but has since developed into a breakfast, lunch and dinner spot. I am always tempted by the desserts, but, as responsible eater (no comments, please), I have been pretty successful at just focusing on ordering lunch.

Sugar Cakes Patisserie has a French flare, and their menu reflects this: quiche, crab cakes, French chicken salad croissant, croque monsieur, kalamata olives and mozzarella, and more. I have eaten there a few times now, and the service has been prompt and the quiches are amazing. Paired with their salad, it feels like you are eating a pretty healthy little lunch—which just might make you convince yourself to give those desserts a second look.

Aside from the restaurant, Sugar Cakes does beautiful custom wedding cakes, pastries and desserts for any special occasion, gathering, or business function. Check their website for beautiful photos of their work. And next time you are in Downtown Marietta, stop in and give them a try. Tell them Scoop sent you.
