Many times a week, I wear the Scoop OTP uniform which consists of either our logo tank top or the colors of red, black and white. In trying to dress up and change up the look, accessories are the key! The hot new accessories are infinity scarves, especially in that great Chevron pattern in every retail therapy store lately. Not only are they pretty, but practical too if the weather isn’t an ideal spring day.

I went online and Googled red chevron scarves and immediately I was directed to the Etsy store page of Sew Sassy Creations. Imagine my delight when I realized she was OTP and out of Suwanne, GA.

Melissa Harper, creator of Sew Sassy Creation, began sewing when she got married — mainly things for herself or for the house. A couple years later, she started making t-shirt quilts for family and friends. When her son was born, she left her job teaching to stay home with him.

The company started with a Facebook page as a way to help earn extra money. This past Christmas, she made infinity scarves as gifts, and then started selling those through her Facebook page. In January, it became difficult to manage inventory and payment invoices through Facebook, so she opened Shop Sew Sassy on Etsy, where her scarves are exclusively offered.

Like many of our Made OTP features, Melissa’s hobby became a business. She loves the freedom of owning her own business and creating items that people enjoy. The company name is after her loving dog, Sassy!

Her top selling items are the Chevron scarfs with a retail of $15 plus shipping. A flower pin can be added as a unique touch for an additional $3. This is such a great addition to any outfit or t-shirt. They also make perfect gifts.

If you want a personalized quilt out of onesies and sleepers or an adult t-shirt quilt, she can sew that too. Her favorite item is the quilt she made from her son’s first year. Just  check out her blog for pictures and contact her with your questions at Melissa@SewSassyCreations.com. That’s the scarf scoop!
