Exciting news for foodies in Cherokee County: a new, contemporary Peruvian restaurant will be opening in June. Mazzato, which will be opening in the space that was previously occupied by the Snug, is the creative work of Chef Jeffrey Del Carpio.
Chef Jeffrey was born in Peru, worked in some of the best restaurants there, and has brought all of the flavor to the U.S. He was previously the executive chef of Guarapo Loudge, Latin Concepts and Ocopa restaurants in Washington D.C., and was featured in the Michelin Guide for best restaurants in Washington D.C.
How did he choose this location for his next endeavor? Friend and partner Juan Kukurelo encouraged him to open a restaurant in Canton, and he lives here now too.
The menu has not been finalized, but Chef Jeffrey did share some of the items you can expect to see: causa, anticuchos, quinoa salad, quinoa risotto, saltado, chaufa, Peruvian rotisserie chicken, mango salad, cordero, and Peruvian BBQ ribs are just some of the dishes that will be on the menu. Check out their Instagram page too for more pictures!
The interior of the restaurant, that had a pub style decor from the previous occupant, is being completely renovated to accompany the Peruvian menu.
The anticipated opening date is June 20th, but stay tuned for updates as that can always change. We are looking forward to an exciting new eatery in Downtown Canton and hope you are too. Follow us on social media for updates on what’s new in your area.
