The AJC conducted an online poll to find out who has the best town square in Atlanta. The Historic Marietta Square won the honors, citing its special events, shops, eateries, and attractions. There were several nominations and Roswell was selected as the first runner-up to this week’s Best of Atlanta poll question.
The Marietta Square has long been a family favorite destination. There are many shops and restaurants that are Square staples, like Dupree’s Antiques, the Strand Theater, and the Marietta Pizza Company, as well as a variety of new businesses like Market with a B, TinyBubbles Tea Bar and the Local Exchange that continue to draw visitors back to the Square to see what is new.
Most recently, Spring Restaurant was a finalist in Bon Appetit’s Best New Restaurant contest. With the new food hall planned, the city keeps reinventing the square. One great way to sample many restaurants is through Marietta Food Tours.
Marietta Square has a full calendar, with popular events year round including Art Walks, Chalktoberfest and, most recently, the Winter Wonderland Skating rink. The Square has also been used as a backdrop for many locally filmed major pictures too.
