Cherokee County Resident to Receive National Red Cross Honor

Judy Cox Certificate of Merit
Judy Cox & Steve Walker

Judy Cox has been our trainer and personal friend for years. When we heard that she had saved a man’s life while working at our local fitness center, we were not at all surprised.

Today Cox was awarded with the National Certificate of Merit — the highest honor an individual can receive from the Red Cross Honor for using her Red Cross training to assist Steve Walker while he was suffering a heart attack while exercising at the Bridgemill Athletic Club this past July.

The Certificate of Merit is presented to 150 to 175 people across the U.S. each year for their selfless and humane efforts to save or sustain a life with skills learned through Red Cross training, according to a statement from the American Red Cross Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter.

Her story will air tonight on 11 Alive News at 6:00 PM, and you can read more about the story from the Atlanta Journal Constitution here.
