“Are you struggling with paint color but don’t know where to start? If you love to paint portraits, draw characters or create fantasy environments, painting digitally is a lot of fun. But for most digital artists and those who are learning to paint, color is challenging, intimidating and one of the most difficult subjects to learn.
We will be performing series of workshops to help you start learning color to improve your color.
To begin the color journey, we’ll first study the most important building block of color: value and composition.
Some of our topics include:
– Color and Composition exercise (We will cover a fun and powerful exercise to help you start painting in color the right way).
– Monochrome film studies
Our workshops are designed for those who want to start painting in color with confidence and get consistent results.”

The Queen’s Cartoonists – The Lantern Series @ Elm Street Cultural Arts Village Event Green
Jul 18 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
The Queen's Cartoonists - The Lantern Series @ Elm Street Cultural Arts Village Event Green

The Queen’s Cartoonists play music from classic cartoons and contemporary animation. The performances are synchronized to video projections of the original films, and the band leads the audience through a world of virtuosic musicianship, multi-instrumental mayhem, and comedy.

Behind the project is a single question is it possible to create jazz and classical music in the 21st century that appeals to everyone? Even people who normally wouldn’t go to concerts? The Queen’s Cartoonists present a concert for everybody – regardless of age, gender, or familiarity with the concert hall.

Tying this diverse concert together are comedic anecdotes involving the cartoons and their composers. The band is on a musical mission of equal parts performance, preservation, and education. Expect the unexpected from repertoire that includes the Golden Age of animation, cult cartoon classics, modern animation, and elements of a musical circus!

Since their inception in 2015, The Queen’s Cartoonists have brought their unique sound to performing arts centers in over 20 states and have opened for the New York Philharmonic. The 6 members, all currently living in Queens, New York, are world-class professional musicians. The band has been featured in numerous major publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The Chicago Tribune, Mashable, and on NPR.

This performance is funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and Georgia Council for the Arts.

VoicePlay – The Lantern Series
Sep 19 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) escalating to a national state of emergency and a global pandemic, VoicePlay has announced the postponement of their current tour dates, including their originally scheduled May 16th concert as part of the Lantern Series. The concert has been rescheduled to September 19th.

As Seen on Season 4 of NBC’s “The Sing-Off.”
Original. Imaginative. Ridiculous. Origimagidiculous.
Based in Orlando, FL, VoicePlay performs their own incredible brand of entertainment across the country and around the world. What began quite literally as a street corner barbershop act has now evolved into an internationally acclaimed touring sensation and video entertainment brand.
VoicePlay is unlike any theatrical experience available today, recreating the orchestrated sound of an entire musical production with nothing but the the human voice. The cast of VoicePlay has taken the timeless sound of vocal music and turned it completely on it’s head.
Re-imagined as a full stage show, amazing, humorous, and vertigo-inducing harmonies pepper VoicePlay’s music-without-music sound as it ping-pongs between eras and styles, channeling the breadth of the musical landscape and lacing it with inventive and often hilarious on-stage theatrics.
