The 2019-20 season introduces 9 temporary works of art joining our ten permanent sculptures through Roswell’s parks and historic downtown. ArtAround Roswell sculptures offer a meaningful experience for adults and children of all ages.

Meet the award winning photographer who has spent over fifty years refining what he calls the art of documentary photography. A photojournalist, teacher, activist, media consultant and entrepreneur, Alexander has amassed an impressive collection of images of Black culture and human rights photographs. He received a 2017 Jus’ Blues Music Foundation Humanitarian Award, for his 50 years of documenting Black music. He is a 2006 inductee into The HistoryMakers, and in 1995 when the city of Atlanta’s Office of Cultural Affairs began its annual “Master Artist” program, Jim Alexander was the first artist chosen “for his contribution to Atlanta and the world.”

Celebrating the very best of the human spirit, The Color Purple tells the uplifting story of Celie, a woman who struggles through adversity to find strength, love and the power of her own voice. This concert will feature members of the 2018 cast, which won the Atlanta area “Suzi” Award for Best Musical.

Three women confront the limits of their freedom as they forge a bond of friendship and struggle to find their own way home. Based on actual events, Robin Seidman Pullen’s play examines the story of millworkers in 1864 Roswell who were tried for treason for making confederate soldier uniforms. This intimate staged reading, featuring some of Atlanta’s finest actors, will be followed by a talkback with the playwright and moderated by Roswell Historical Society.
