“Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk” Releasing this Week

Georgia filmed “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk”, directed by Ang Lebliiylynne hits theaters this Friday, November 11th. The film shot for a few days last April in Cherokee county at the Georgia National Cemetery. Take a peek at the trailer.

The film stars Vin Diesel, Kristin Stewart, Steve Martin and newcomer Garrett Hedlund. 

In the movie, 19-year-old Billy Lynn is brought home for a victory tour after a harrowing Iraq battle. Through flashbacks the film shows what really happened to his squad — contrasting the realities of war with America’s perceptions. 

The Georgia Department of Economic reports that the film spent $18.1 million dollars in the 2 months it was filming in Georgia.

There are several movies that were filmed in Georgia that are scheduled for release in the upcoming months, including “The Founder“, “Hidden Figures” and “American Made“. We are excited to see familiar OTP areas highlighted on the big screen.
