It has been a big week for Atlanta, which of course can affect all of us OTPers.
It was announced earlier this week that a Hard Rock Hotel will open Spring of 2018 in the Castleberry Hill

District adjacent to the new Mercedes-Benz stadium. The hotel will boast 220 rooms, a vibrant lobby that is sure to become a local hot spot, a rooftop oasis for dining and mingling, and a heated pool. The hotel will also offer the Hard Rock amenities found at the brand’s other locations including the Rock Spa, Body Rock workout facility and the Rock Shop. The casino part of this hotel hasn’t been approved by the city yet.
2018 will be a big year in Atlanta, as it was announced yesterday that the college football National Championship game will be played in the Falcon’s new stadium on January 8, 2018. The Falcon’s will have just completed their first regular season in the stadium. This is the second national mega-event that has been awarded to Atlanta. Previously, the NCAA selected Atlanta for the Men’s Final Four in 2020. Stay tuned; Atlanta is also bidding to host the Super Bowl for 2019 or 2020.
And, if you head ITP for work, your morning commute may have been shaken up bit if you are a fan of Q100’s “The Bert Show”. Show sidekick Jeff Dauler left the show mid week to take some time off, but will be returning to rival radio station Star 94 in February. For those of us who like their routine in the mornings, this was a shock! Best of luck to Dauler on his new venture, and to the Bert show on their transition.
If you normally go watch The Big Peach Drop New Years Eve, that tradition may not happen. Underground Atlanta is being sold and at this time there was no confirmation that the 800 lb. peach would fall to ring in 2016. If you didn’t know, Marietta Square will have a New Year’s Eve Ball Drop for kids and adults.
So that’s the ITP Scoop week in review! Lots of news. And, as OTP dwellers, we can embrace it when we choose, or just stay in the ‘burbs, enjoying the calm.
